Space Gallery ‘Selfie’ Exhibition 2025
As those who know me, and especially those who have done any of my photography courses, might know, I am quite partial to self-portraiture as a form of creative expression. Both as a good way to experiment with different types of portrait photography without the need for a model, and as a form of self-therapy, to explore identity in a visual way, and to, in the words of photographer Sean Tucker, use the camera (or any art medium, for that matter) to “overcome our insecurities and our perceived flaws”.
With this in mind, I was intrigued when I saw a call for entries for an art exhibition entitled "SELFIE" at Space Gallery in Whanganui. I submitted some work, and was pleased to have two of my photos selected for inclusion. The exhibition features work by 11 artists from across Aotearoa, including photographers, painters, textile artists, and more.
