NZIPP Iris Awards 2025
For the 2025 edition of the Iris Awards I scaled down further, entering only six images - three prints and three digital.
I was pleased this year to land my first Gold Distinction, achieving a score of 98% for a 9-part self-portrait entered into the Portraiture category. The image achieved the highest score in the category, and I was very proud and humbled by the feedback from the judges.
I also entered a couple of science photography polyptych images, representing the work I regularly do through Sciencelens, and it was lovely to receive recognition for these in the form of Silver Awards in both cases - in the Portraiture and Documentary categories respectively.
And of course I couldn't keep myself from trying a few things in the Landscape category, which resulted in a Silver for my brutalist wall, and a Bronze (at 79, just one agonising percentage point away from Silver) for a cheeky 'urinal-scape'. This was one of my personal favourite entries, and quite possibly the first ever toilet-shot entered into the Iris Awards.
